Sale Report - QCL 18 July 2013

The innovative Norolle “Heart of the Herd” Gelbvieh Sale, a simultaneous auction, conducted by AuctionsPlus and Elders on Friday 12 July, proved a great success according to stud principals Clyde and Alison Johnson.

Clyde Johnson said “without leaving the property, the 64 Gelbvieh lots offered were viewed and bid on by clients in four states Qld, NSW, Victoria and South Australia.”

He also added “most of the lots not sold in the hour long Helmsman type sale, sold either to losing bidders immediately after the sale or privately within three days.”

Top priced female Lot 7, Norolle Lady in Red A47, at $3,400, with a heifer calf at foot, sold to John Gommers, Wychwood Gelbvieh Stud, Keith SA, who also purchased a further six females of varied ages and breeding.


Lot 62 Norolle Guardian 407 G60, 23 months and top priced bull at $6,200 went to Grant Donnelly, Eldorado Partnership, Glen Innes NSW.


Other NSW buyers included Junior Gelbvieh members, James Taylor who procured Norolle 2J Lady in Red C62 at $1300 and Jesse Joseph purchasing a PTIC heifer Norolle Hot Legs G65 at $900.

Repeat clients, Julie and Aderian Nixon, Weetalabah Stud, Chinchilla, purchased four females including, a mother and daughter, both black, to a top of $2,400 for Norolle Shady Lady B45, and $2,000 for Norolle Shady Lady D50.

Queensland based breeders Guy Swan and Nadine Holt purchased four females for their fledgling GN Gelbvieh Stud near Gympie, to a top of $2,600 for Norolle Shady Lady H84 and $2,000 for Norolle Polled Hot Legs Y24.


“It is pleasing to see the interest in Gelbvieh from young breeders with 16 year old Aaron Randall, Bushy Park, The Gums putting together a good line of five females and a bull” Clyde Johnson said.

Others studs purchasing were Kim and Matthew Noonan Taunton Park, Yea in Victoria and Glen and Donna Chaplin Sunshine Stud Cooroy Queensland with two female Lots each; and Malcolm and Lauren King with three females for their Goldrush Stud at Tenterfield NSW.

Kirrily and Gavin Iseppi, Leafmore Dalby, purchased four female lots from the Hot Legs and Madonna families, Lots 13,14 and 17; and repeat buyer Michael Borg secured Lot 18 Norolle Lady in Red C73 for his Clermont property, Calveston Station.

Mr Johnson said he was very happy to see Ian and Val Rogers, Leeside Gelbvieh, Stanthope purchase the two lovely, 16 and 17 months old Balancer heifers, for their breeding program.

Commercial support came from repeat buyers Abroath Grazing Company Roma with three bulls purchased at the sale including Lot 67 Norolle Gallant 2R G75 and one shortly after.

DM and JM Collyer, Rosevale Station, Hughenden purchased female Lots 1 15, 29, 30 and 40; and Lot 68, 11 months old Norolle 2R Halifax H69
at $4,000, the second top price lot of the sale.


Mike Atkins Tara, purchased 6 female lots at the sale and five post sale along
with the eight month old, Lot 69 Norolle 2R Shambler H77 at $1300.

By Monday 15 July there was a 92% clearance of the Sale Lots offered.

SALE SUMMARY

50 females 8 months - 13 years sold for $59,800 to a top of $3,400
8 bulls 8 - 23 months sold for $22,000 to a top of $ 6,200

EU & MSA RATINGS

Long time Norolle clients, Arbroath Grazing Company Roma Q use Gelbvieh bulls over a percentage of their mainly Hereford breeders.

They are impressed with the fertility and mothering ability; and the growth,
carcase quality and meat yield of the Gelbvieh cross stock..

The 11 ox and steers; and 24 heifers and cows in their October 2012 consignment to Teys Abattoir at Beenleigh Q, were all either EU or MSA rated.

Norolle Shady Lady E50, purchased at the 2010 Queensland Gelbvieh Sale in Toowoomba by the Dobson Family Golden Gate Gelbvieh, Westbury Tasmania on 21 August, was Grand Champion Gelbvieh Female at the 2010 Launceston Show, one month after her arrival there.

FARM FEST - JUNE 2010

Red Angus x Gelbvieh steer, bred by Kirrily and Gavin Iseppi, GK Red Angus, “Leafmore” Dalby and exhibited 1 June 2010, was placed first in his class with $400 prize money. He weighed 470 kg at 10 months.

Lady in Red Z56 placed first in the 14 to 16 months class of 26 heifers which also included Australian Lowline, Braford, Charbray, Charolais, Droughtmaster, Limousin, Murray Grey, Santa Gertrudis and Simmental entries.

The Clifton (Qld) Show’s inaugural All Breeds Stud Cattle Heifer Show was held under lights on the evening of 17 February 2006. There were 97 entries and Norolle Lady in Red Z56 was in the final line up of three for the Championship along with her stable mate from Norolle Millmerran, a GK Red Angus heifer, who won the Reserve Senior Championship.

Supreme Beef Champion Female - Norolle Lady in Red T62 was the Champion Gelbvieh Female with her heifer calf at foot by Remitall Fire Power 101F. The Champion Gelbvieh Bull was Norolle Absolute Power by Remitall Fire Power 101F and he was placed 3rd overall. Together - their points added up as the Interbreed Championship Competition winners.

1999 QUEENSLAND ROYAL SHOW BRISBANE

A major highlight for our stud was showing the Supreme Interbreed Champion Pair at the 1999 Queensland Royal Show in Brisbane.

1999 Queensland Royal Show Interbreed Champions paraded by Kirrily & Gavin Iseppi.

Norolle Polled Right Choice is by Mastermind out of a Poll Newman daughter and RP’S MADONNA S410, Champion Futurity Female at the World Gelbvieh Conference showing, was purchased at the 1999 Sydney Royal.

RP’s Madonna S410 had a lovely heifer calf at foot. She calved in September 2000 to Fire Power 101F with another lovely heifer. Right Choice was sold into a Charolais herd for cross breeding.

Norolle Right Choice sold to Ian and Ivan Price, Moongool Charolais Stud, Yuleba Qld.
